What the heck is an RSS? (Posted Sep 10, 2025)

Everyone knows social media sucks, so I'm not going to waste your time ranting about why you'd want other options. One of those other options is RSS, a standard format for aggregating content across the internet. At least that's what I think it does?

This format feels prehistoric, and yet I've never once interacted with it. Apparently Hugo, the web framework I use, has native support for it? Maybe I should actually mess with that some?

It's hard to tailor my content for a format I don't really even use...

Do I need to format things in a specific way? I might have to. I'll let y'all know what I find.

Update from a few hours later: Managed to clean the feed somewhat! Should have better metadata, utility pages like the sitemap shouldn't be included in the feed anymore.
